From the time I could walk my
father wanted me to be a golfer. My dad played golf at Van Wert High School,
about an hour south of Defiance. He then started his career at Toledo
University where he played on the golf team until after his sophomore year
where he didn’t really have fun because of their lack of talent. He then transferred
to The University Of New Mexico where they were top fifteen in the nation. My
father is now a Golf Professional and has made me play ever since. Going forth
towards high school I was forced to play, even when the High school Football
coach asked me to play football to be a quarterback. Me not wanting to practice
made me not go to my full potential as a golfer. My father believed it was my
best sport and if I would have practiced probably would have went Division I,
but me not enjoying the game I thought at the time wasn’t the right decision. I
loved the game of baseball and decided I wanted to play college baseball so I
never focused on golfing (what my father wanted me to do and achieve at).
Looking back at it I do think I made the right decision because of my love for the
game and the enjoyment the game of baseball gives me. Then again it would have
been a lot cheaper and college would have been a lot more affordable if I had practiced
and played Division I Golf.
